Leading organisational change
Organisations who ask us for advice about managing change usually have one of two main challenges.
- They need to implement a new process effectively
- They want to move their organisational culture in a new direction (e.g. aligned to new core values)
In both situations, our experience and knowledge of change research has taught us that the most important consideration in any change intervention are the people involved.
People in any organisation have the power to ignore, block or even sabotage change but they also have the power to innovate, lead and inspire change.
So beginning by considering the people in the organisation, all people, and especially those who are responsible for leading change can produce a powerful and effective change programme. Each person will have a different experience of change and by recognising this we can help organisations to assess what this experience is and how best to influence people through change.
By using innovative techniques and change models, our learning experiences and change workshops we aim to guide people through their personal experience of change. By encouraging individuals to look at their own behaviour, attitude and emotional transitions we can help them to make the personal changes which will enable the organisation to achieve its goals.
Assessing Organisational culture
It can be useful to begin any change intervention by assessing the current organisational culture. Using a combination of structured and flexible tools, such as questionnaires, workshops and interviews we can gain a greater insight into your current organisational culture. This insight informs the design of interventions, ensuring they are relevant and appropriate so they take you on the path towards your desired culture. These types of assessment techniques can be used during and after any interventions to inform any required change or flex of direction and assess their effectiveness.
Leading change
The word leadership has Norse and Anglo Saxon routes which relate to journey, direction, progress and change. Strong, informed leadership balanced by openness and flexibility are essential for successful organisational change interventions. Our learning events help leaders to reflect on their personal experience of change and build their confidence and abilities to lead their teams through change.
Personal change experiences
Through change workshops our interventions can include all of your organisations' people, encompassing those who are naturally supportive of change and those who maybe cautious and even resistant to change. We have found these to be an extremely influential intervention helping organisations achieve change effectively and efficiently.
